Serious Illness

Serious Illness Insurance

Serious illness insurance pays you a sum if you are diagnosed with one of the specific illnesses or disabilities that your policy covers. It is also sometimes called “Critical Illness Cover”.

It is often sold as an extra benefit on a life insurance or mortgage protection policy; however, it can also be sold as an insurance policy on its own.

What is covered?

A few of the serious illnesses covered are:

  • Cancer of specified severity
  • Heart Attack
  • Stroke
  • Kidney Failure
  • Major Organ Transplant
  • Parkinson’s Disease

Eligibility

Typically, anyone between the ages of 16 to 55 (inclusive) may apply for Critical Illness cover. There are some questions about your health, lifestyle and family medical history that would determine whether or not you are eligible for cover.

Talk with an insurance specialist at Smart Financial to see if you are eligible for Serious Illness cover or to discuss other Life Insurance options to give your family the peace of mind they deserve.
